Pokerstars 2013 Turbo Championship of Online Poker

Tuesday January 29,2013 : RECORDS FALL AT THIS YEAR'S TURBO CHAMPIONSHIP OF ONLINE POKER

Pokerstars guaranteed prize pools of $15 million…but players drove them to a record $24 million

The Pokerstars 2013 Turbo Championship of Online Poker is in the books with a record $24 million dished out, way more than the $15 million guarantee initially posted up by the giant online poker company for the 50 events.

The main event alone saw 5,060 punters generate a prize pool for this one event of $3.3 million, with the final seven players all claiming six-figure paydays. The biggest take-home was won by a Swedish player, who took the main event honours and a prize of $326,880.

TCOOP in 2012 pay-outs totalled $19.7 million.

It was a similar story on this year's TCOOP High Roller, a $2,100 buy-in competition that pulled in 1,095 hopefuls, creating an event prize pool of $2.19 million, which paid out $383,000 to the winning German online player.

This year's TCOOP online Player of the Year was a Danish online punter, who managed to participate in an impressive 46 out of the 50 events, and won a 2014 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package worth $16,500.
