2014 WSOP Event 25

Friday June 13, 2014 :  BRITISH VICTORY IN WORLD SERIES OF POKER EVENT

Kabbaj claims his second winner's bracelet.

British poker pro John Kabbaj has claimed his second WSOP winner's bracelet – his first was in a $10,000 buy-in PLHE championship back in 2009 – after  besting a field of 470 entrants to triumph in the $2,500 buy-in Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi Lo Split8 or Better competition – event number 25 on the WSOP schedule.

In addition to the prestigious bracelet, Kabbaj received a check for $267,327 after beating runner up Thomas Keller in a brief but fiercely contested heads up that saw Kabbaj start with a 2 to 1 chip advantage, quickly augmented by victory in two big stud hi-lo hands that severely hammered Keller and enabled the Brit to eliminate him.

Keller took home $165,177 for his second placing.

The field included some big names from the international world of poker and generated a prize pool of $1,069,250. Other final table take-homes were:

Chris McHugh $105,000
Terrence Hastoo $75,713
Joe Tehan $55,451
Erik Seidel $41,230
Mike Leah $31,115
Tom Schneider $23,833
