First bracelet for Paster…and a bank account boosting $264,400.
 
The 2014 World Series of Poker is now well over the halfway mark, with event 37 – a PLO competition – now in the record books, describing a victory by Massachusetts poker pro Brandon Paster (27).
 
Along with 966 other hopefuls, Paster paid $1,500 to play in the event, surviving a field crowded with quality players to claim his first bracelet and the main prize of $264,400 after a brief heads up against Marcel Vonk.
 
Seen among  the starters were Fabrice Soulier, Layne Flack, Erick Lindgren, Humberto Brenes, Joe Cada, Barry Greenstein, Chris Moorman, Jason Mercier and Jonathan Little, to name just a sample.
 
The heads up featured Paster and Belgian pro Vonk, who had started the last day of the event as the chip leaders.
 
However, Paster performed rather better than his opponent to enter the heads up with a huge 12 to 1 chip advantage which quickly translated into a three-hand unstoppable victory for the American.
 
Vonk retired with the consolation of a runner up prize worth  $163,625, whilst other final table pay-outs looked like this:
