California poker pro the most successful player in World Series of Poker history.
 
The high profile poker pro from California, Phil Hellmuth (50) proved to a packed rail that he still has it in spades early Tuesday morning Vegas time when he eliminated his last opponent to claim victory and his 14th World Series of Poker winner's bracelet in event 17 – the $10,000 buy-in Razz Championship.
 
That puts him well ahead of other top WSOP players Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan, who have each won 10 bracelets in their illustrious WSOP careers.
 
Along with the record-breaking bracelet, Hellmuth collected a first prize of $271,105. In a career that started with a main event win in 1989, it was his 109th WSOP cash and 52nd WSOP final table, generating WSOP live tourney earnings for Hellmuth of $12.7 million.
 
103 entrants registered for the event, which distilled to a final table that included four other bracelet holders in Mike Leah, Thomas Keller, Mike Gorodinsky and Brandon Shack-Harris.
 
Hellmuth faced San Diego pro Mike Gorodinsky in the heads up, with the latter holding a 2 to 1 lead that Hellmuth quickly set about diminishing.
 
The battle raged back and forth for some time before Hellmuth was able to secure the upper hand and finish Gorodinsky off, sending him to the cashier and a runner up pay day of $167,517.
