51-year-old Jeff Tomlinson bests 493 to win $567,714 and first winner's bracelet.
 
A shock win over the weekend in one of the World Series of Poker's toughest events – number 25, the $5,000 buy-in NLHE 8-Handed competition – was achieved by Florida high school football coach Jeff Tomlinson (51),
 
The part-time poker player scored $567,714 after besting a 493-strong field that created a prize pool of $2.31 million.
 
The final table was headed by French professional ace Pierre Marais, who held a major chip advantage, and included top players like Jonathan Little, Dan O'Brien and Anthony Zinno.
 
The elimination of German star Dominik Nitsche at third for $220,657 ushered in the heads up where, in his fifth WSOP cash, the Florida football coach claimed his first WSOP winner's bracelet after defeating Marais in a lengthy and stressful 130-hand back-and-forth exchange, despite starting at an almost 3 to 1 chip disadvantage.
