2015 WSOP Event 35

Sunday June 21,2015 :  ANOTHER WIN FOR FLORIDA AT WORLD SERIES OF POKER

Baton Rouge professional player takes down Event 35.

Another player from Florida – professional ace Corrie Wunstel – has triumphed at the World Series of Poker, taking down the $1,500 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha event after surviving a field of 978 entries that included almost every top name in the international game.

Among the 117 players who cashed from the $1.32 million prize pool but did not make the final table were Tom Schneider, Max Pescatori, Noah Schwartz and Jonathan Little.

Wunstel played a solid game to reach a final table that comprised Kevin Saul, Jim Karambinis, Peter Levine, Marvic Colvin, Makrus Cara, Bryce Fox, Kevin Allen and Ke Chao Ni. It turned out to be a volatile affair with plenty of action until the five-handed stage was reached when caution prevailed and the exchanges dragged on for almost three hours.

Once Marvin Colvin headed for the exit the game lit up again and before long Wunstel, holding a 2 to 1 advantage, found himself facing off against WSOP veteran Kevin Saul in the heads up.

Whether Wunstel eased off or Saul went into turbodrive is debatable, but the positions were reversed at one point and Wunstel had to pull out all the stops to get back on top.

He managed to do that, dismissing Saul with the runner up prize of $165,147 and claiming his first WSOP bracelet and the main prize of $267,435.
