2015 WSOP Event 43

Wednesday June 24,2015 :  JON ANDLOVEC IS A POKER SUPER SENIOR

70-year-old "Hippy Jon" wins WSOP event 43.

Latest big winner – of $262,220 and his first bracelet – at the World Series of Poker is Jon "Hippy Jon" Andlovec (70) who has been competing in WSOP events for over 15 years and took down the $1,000 buy-in Super Seniors NLHE competition Tuesday.

The event, reserved for players 65 years old and over, attracted 1,533 entries generating a prize pool of $1.37 million. It was Andlovec's fourth WSOP cash – the last one was back in 2004 – in a professional poker career that has seen him earn over $750,000 in live tournaments.

The final table included veteran WSOP players Perry Green and Rod Pardey Jr., who boast five bracelets between them, but it was Pardey who survived to the heads up against Andlovec, with the latter holding the advantage.

It was a short, six-hand affair that ended with Pardey denied his third bracelet but taking home a second placing check for $162,100.

Winner Andlovec had an amusing story to tell following his win, revealing that he had only travelled from Carson City to compete in Vegas this year because his daughter had sent him some cash and told him to go win money to pay for her wedding.

Other final table take-homes on the all-US final table were:

3 Wallace Havens $106,678
4 Wayne Knyal $76,904
5 Thomas Lock $56,291
6 Mark Estes $41,804
7 Ted Cohen $31,484
8 Perry Green $24,034
9 Mark Schwartz $18,584
