2015 WSOP Main Event Starts Today

Sunday July 5,2015 :  STAND BY FOR THE BIG ONE

World Series of Poker Main Event starts Sunday

After almost two months and 67 events, the Main Event of most prestigious live poker tournament on the planet, the World Series of Poker, is set to kick off on Sunday July 5 in Las Vegas.

Ten days have been set aside for the event, number 68 on the WSOP schedule, which is expected to attract thousands of players, among them the most accomplished in international competitive poker.

It will run through to July 14, by which time a nine-seat final table will have been decided through competitive attrition; at that point the nine survivors will take a few months break, returning in November to decide the winner.

With a large entry list – last year there were 6,683 registrations – and a buy-in of $10,000 this is a big money competition which last year awarded Swedish winner Martin Jacobson with $10 million.

The final nine players earned between $730,725 and $5.14 million, but this year a flatter pay-out structure will ensure that more players cash, with 1,000 players earning at least $15,000.

Most of the events are being livestreamed this year; the schedule can be found here:
