2015 WSOPE Event 4

Thursday October 15,2015 : NEW YORKER CLAIMS WORLD SERIES OF POKER ‘MONSTER STACK' VICTORY

Financial adviser bests 579 to win main prize of Euro 176,205 and his first bracelet.

The 2015 World Series of Poker Europe's fourth event, the "Monster Stack" No-Limit Hold'em competition went into the history books this week, recording that New York financial adviser Ryan Hefter bested a field of 580 to claim his first winner's bracelet and the main prize of Euro 176,205.

Hefter travelled from his current assignment with Credit Suisse in Poland to Berlin for the WSOPE action, and says he is mainly a cash game player, although he was at one time an online poker professional. Prior to his victory in event 4 he had busted out of the Oktoberfest event earlier this week.

Danish player Henrik Hecklen held the chip lead when the final table formed on the third day of the competition, with Hefter at the low end of the chip stacks, but when Hecklen busted out at fourth it was Frenchman Gilbert Diaz, Carlos Chang from Taiwan and Hefter who were the last three players standing, with Diaz in charge.

Hefter then made his move in a double up on Chang which eliminated the Taiwanese player and positioned Hefter on an equal footing with Diaz in the heads up. By then the players had been in action for around 14 hours and a series of all-ins finally led to Hefter securing the advantage and eliminating the hard-fighting Diaz.

Other final table cashes were:

Gilbert Diaz Euro 109,625
Carlos Chang Euro 80,170
Henrik Hecklen Euro 59,495
Diego Ventura Euro 44,725
Armin Eckl Euro 34,180
Justin Frolian Euro 26,415
Richard Sheils Euro 20,675
David Peters Euro 16,455
