Weekend reports suggest that 888 may be a stronger contender.
 
Unconfirmed reports that 888 Holdings has joined the scramble to acquire online gambling group Bwin Party Digital Entertainment surfaced in the Sunday Times over the weekend, quoting informed but unidentified sources in the City.
 
The past week has been full of confirmed reports that GVC Holdings is the main bidder for the company and has recently submitted a revised offer, although the Bwin statements have acknowledged that there are other interested parties.
 
The reports suggest that with a market cap twice that of GVC Holdings, 888 may be in a stronger position to clinch a deal, and that the company is expected to confirm its interest tomorrow (Monday).
