The Nevada Gaming Control Board said Tuesday that April gambling revenue in the state rose 6.2 percent to $855.7 million.
 
On the Las Vegas Strip, which accounts for more than half the total, revenues increased 7.5 percent to $459.4 million, with slot machine and baccarat action the best performers in another welcome sign of recovery.
 
Downtown won $49 million and jumped 25 percent compared with the same time last year.
 
Reno casinos brought in $38 million in April, down about 19 percent. The county overall saw revenue drop 15 percent.
 
South Lake Tahoe pulled in nearly $14 million, down about 4 percent.
 
State officials collected $49 million in taxes based on April gambling – up 14 percent from April 2011.
