Concerns that Camelot may try to expand its activities for the state
 
The coup scored by UK lottery operator Camelot in securing the management contract for the Pennsylvanian State Lottery could entail more red tape than was first envisioned, according to reports out of the state this week.
 
Five Republican politicians, led by Senate President Joe Scarnati and Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi have voiced concerns in a written communication to Governor Tom Corbett that Camelot should be restricted from an over-expansion of gambling products during its management, specifically in regard to the expansion of video lottery terminals and any venture into online gambling.
 
The expansion of gambling is not the only rationale behind the politicos’ demand for a revised contract enshrining the prohibitions; they're also worried that additional gambling channels may impact the state's land casino operators, who have been enjoying a bumper year that saw them overtaking neighbouring states.
