2013 Big One for One Drop

Tuesday June 25,2013 : CHARITY ACTION AT WORLD SERIES OF POKER THIS WEEK

Big One for One Drop aims to provide clean water for struggling third world communities

Poker action to raise funds for the One Drop charity – an organisation that assists struggling third world communities to get access to clean water – is again on the World Series of Poker schedule this year, with the first fund-raiser taking place tomorrow (June 26) at noon Vegas time.

Event 47 is a NLHE high roller poker competition with a buy-in of $111,111, three percent of which will go to the charity, whilst the rest will generate a prize pool that could be as high as $10 million or more, judging by past such events.

The event is classed as a bracelet competition, and a good turnout is expected. In past years many of the cashing players in the event have additionally dedicated part or all of their winnings to the charity.

Early next month, on July 3 and 4, another bracelet event will be held at event 58 – the ‘mini' NLHE version of the Big One which has a buy-in of $1,111 and features two starting heats and unlimited re-entry through the first four levels each day.

The charity will score $111 from each buy-in in what is expected to be a large entry field.
