AMERICAS CARD ROOM LAUNCHES FAST TOURNAMENTS

Friday, October 28, 2011 :  Two tournament types offer online poker players greater flexibility.

Fresh from its acquisition of Doyles Room , online poker operator Americas Card Room has launched time-based and hand-based tournaments, offering players with tight personal schedules the opportunity to fast-track their action.

The new tournament types are perfect for players who don't have the patience to sit through hours of hands, or for those on a tight schedule with a limited window in their day to play an online poker tournament, a company spokesman said this week.

"While regular Texas Hold'em tournaments play out until only one player is left standing in order to determine the prize pool distribution, time-based tournaments at Americas Cardroom.com end after a designated period of time, regardless of how many players remain," the spokesman said. "When the clock runs out, players are paid out according to their rank; a player's rank is determined by how many chips they have."

Hand-based tournaments, also new to Americas Cardroom, have a format not unlike like time-based tournaments, but instead of ending after a designated amount of time, the tournament is wrapped up after a predetermined number of hands.

Time-based tournaments at the internet poker room have a 15 and 30-minute clock, and hand-based tournaments are available in a 60-hand format.
