Saturday September 24, 2011 : OBOODI THE CHAMP AT THE WORLD POKER TOUR BORGATA OPEN

Atlantic City pro's payday is $922,441

Atlantic City poker pro Bobby Oboodi is $922,441 better off this week, having taken down the World Poker Tour Borgata Open Championship, besting a field of 1,313 to do so. He also claimed a $25 000 seat in the WPT World Championship at the Bellagio later this year and the respect due to a true champ.

Oboodi, holding a slight chip lead over nearest challenger Fred Goldberg, faced a final table of Ricky Hale, Fred Goldberg, Jin Hwang, Daniel Buzgon and Darren Elias after days of tough, competitive live poker in which top players like Vanessa Selbst, “Miami” John Cernuto, Will Failla and Matt Glantz all fell before the final table was formed.

Other than a brief period in the heads up against Jin Hwang from Virginia, when he temporarily lost the lead, Oboodi dominated the action to claim the main prize, leaving his opponent with a consolation runner's up prize of $554,303.

It was Oboodi’s biggest career win to date, giving him the lion's share of the $4,192,913 prize pool.
