Crown Casino thief Caught

In an Aussie variation of Dumb and Dumber, burglar comes to a sticky end

Police in Melbourne have nick-named a skills-challenged would be casino burglar ‘Ocean’s One’ following his arrest after a botched breaking and entry.

Covered in grease, the 25-year-old intruder was pulled from a ventilation shaft at the Crown Casino and charged with criminal damage and trespassing this week. He will appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on October 7.

Police report that the alleged burglar entered a ceiling cavity from a duct, but became trapped and despite yelling for help spent ten hours in involuntary detention.

Emergency workers believe the man accessed the steel duct from a stairwell late at night, crawled about 30 metres and then fell vertically through the vents until he became wedged head first just above a cafe grill station.

Staff at the restaurant heard him screaming for help about 9.30am the following morning and raised the alarm.
