PMU and Phumelela partner in Greek Horse Racing bid
 
One of the two contenders in the running to win the right to offer tote betting on horse races in Greece comprises a consortium of French operator Pari Mutuel Urbain  and South African tote firm Phumelela Gaming and Leisure.
 
The board of directors of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund announced last week the qualification of 2PU Societe Par Actions Simplifiee in Phase B of the tender process along with Intralot Ltd

The successful bidder will be granted the exclusive right to organise and conduct mutual betting on horse races in Greece for the next 20 years marking the privatisation of the Horse Racing Organisation (ODIE).
 
Phumelela Gold Enterprises (PGE), a joint venture between horseracing and tote betting operators Phumelela and Gold Circle (Pty) Ltd (GC), through its wholly owned subsidiary Phumelela Gold International (PGI) is licensed to conduct pari-mutuel betting on the Isle of Man.
 
PGI is the replica of the tote betting facilities in South Africa and operates as an international hub connecting punters, tote operators and internet betting websites from across the globe.  Tabcorp Holdings Limited (Australia) acquired joint ownership of the Isle of Man operation in a strategic partnership with PGE.
