Sportech Racing LLC, a division of Sportech plc has signed a contract with state gambling monopoly Danske Spil to provide a pari-mutuel Tote Betting System (TBS).

The contract will commence with delivery scheduled for May 2014 and an initial term of 5 years with two optional extension periods.  The contracting company is Sportech's wholly owned subsidiary, Racing Technology Ireland.

A company spokesman said Friday that the solution for Danske Spil is anchored by Sportech's Quantum System, which will be joined with Sportech's G4 interactive betting framework to distribute tote betting products through Danske Spil's successful and broadly-distributed e-gaming website, as well as its land-based retail channels, with integration to external wallet services, global racing and betting partners, third party data providers and interfaces to new and existing wagering devices.

Sportech will host the Tote Betting Solution from a Sportech data center in Europe, while fully managing the Tote Betting System with services including maintenance, development and operations from the company's dedicated infrastructure and operations center in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, U.S.A.   Denmark will be the largest customer from outside North America – and the first from Europe – to be operated from Sportech's New Jersey facility.

Andrew Gaughan, managing director of Sportech Racing, said:  "This contract perfectly exemplifies Sportech Racing's strategy of leveraging our proven Quantum tote system, introducing our new G4 interactive framework to integrate with Danske Spil's web distribution channels, and then providing day-to-day operations to a customer in Europe from our dedicated operations center in the U.S.A., where they can connect to multiple international pools from throughout North America, Europe, Latin America and elsewhere."

Sportech was awarded the contract after a competitive tender process that evaluated bidder solutions for quality, operation, implementation and price.

Hans Christian Madsen, managing director of Danske Spil, said that the deal would enable his company to offer players new tote betting products, expand its commingling activities globally and integrate with its current and emerging web and land based distribution channels.
