Dutch gambling authority Adopts addiction prevention

Wednesday May 25,2016 : DUTCH AUTHORITY ADOPTS ADDICTION PREVENTION STRATEGY

Following comprehensive public consultation.

Dutch gambling authority Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) said it has adopted its addiction prevention strategy following the completion of a comprehensive public consultation.

The strategy covers the Dutch gambling market in broad terms, encompassing both terrestrial and online, as the country looks towards the regulation of online gambling.

KSA reassessed objectives, priorities, approaches and activities towards the prevention of addiction that formerly only applied to the terrestrial market.

The KSA said it had received 20 substantive responses from external parties in the consultation process, including the Ministry of Security and Justice, the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, numerous gaming providers, industry associations, organisations in the addiction sector and knowledge institutions and had, in addition, submitted the draft proposal to the KSA’s Advisory Council and affiliated research partners.
