AGA touting legalised sports betting

Concerted Twitter campaign illustrates the AGAs determination to legalise US sports betting more widely.
 
In an initiative that is becoming increasingly noticeable, the US land casino trade body the American Gaming Association has been touting legalised sports betting through conference appearances and in social media.
 
This week saw a typical example, with the Association taking to Twitter to point out that billions of dollars are about to be wagered illegally on the upcoming National Basketball Finals tonight (Thursday), and that it is time for Congress to revisit the federal prohibition on sports betting in all but four states.
 
The Association drives the point home by noting that $4.2 billion was bet on Super Bowl 50, $9.2 billion on March Madness….and 97 percent of it was illegally placed.
 
Time for rethink indeed!
