RECORD SALES FOR AUSTRIAN LOTTERIES


02/03/2012 :  Online gaming good for 2011 annual results
 
State-owned Austrian Lotteries and Casinos Austria Group has reported record sales of Euro 3.4 billion for the year 2011 and is looking to online expansion to deliver the same in the year ahead.
 
Other Key Performance Indicators include:
 
–     Growth driven primarily by Austrian Lotteries which generated Euros 2.899 billion, up 9.7 percent over 2010
 
–     Twelve Austrian Casinos up 4.3 percent to Euro 270 million
 
–     Win2day, up 5 percent representing a staggering Euro 1.125 Billion (excluding poker)
 
Austrian Lotteries and Casinos Austria Group chief executive officer, Karl Stoss comments:  "While the classic casino business in Europe is still in a phase of consolidation, we look at online betting, video lottery terminals, but also in the traditional lottery business for growth opportunities that we can use for our group."
 
The company has applied for a Belgian licence for its win2day.at online division through its relationship with land-based subsidiary Grand Casino Brussels, moving towards its online expansion strategy.
 
Additionally its Austrian Lotteries, WINWIN and Better Game Solutions (tipp3) are all exploring several options for new markets in Europe.
