Betfair cancelled contract with Bayer Leverkusen

Withdraws just nine months in to the two-year agreement
 
Betfair has reportedly cancelled its sponsorship contract and ended all involvement with German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen under mutual consent by both parties.
 
The sponsorship deal was agreed in June 2012 for a two-year period with an option to renew for a third.
 
Although no detail has been provided on the reason for the withdrawal, observers note it probably hinges on new gambling regulations that imposed a five percent tax on all sportsbetting stakes.
