Brit betting exchange shifts focus following failure of Hollywood Park.
 
With the failure of the Hollywood Park enterprise spurring it to shift focus, UK online gambling group Betfair now appears close to sealing a betting exchange deal with New Jersey's Monmouth Park race course, according to racing journal reports.
 
The reportage suggests that the main elements of a deal that could be implemented as early as mid-2014 have been agreed between the companies, and that the proposed alliance has been submitted to the state attorney general for consideration as a precursor to its being laid before the public and state racing officials.
 
If the proposal is given the green light it will constitute the first betting exchange operation in the United States.
