Academy for betting In Malta

Thursday September 4,2014 :  ACADEMY FOR BETTING IN MALTA

Gaming specific university course under consideration

Maltese Parliamentary Secretary for Economic Growth Jose Herrera said the possibility of establishing an academy for betting is under Government consideration.

Herrera would like to see more Maltese citizens employed in the industry saying the younger demographic is very attracted to the remote gaming industry but a gaming specific university course is unavailable.

"Malta is internationally established in the gaming industry and the industry makes up around 12% of GDP. For this reason it should also be established academically," Herrera told Malta Today.

The comments were made during a visit to Tipico Betting Company, an organisation that currently employs 160 people in Malta.
