Bodog UK Dropping Poker

Thursday, October 4, 2012 : REVAMPED UK BODOG WEBSITE TO SPURN ONLINE POKER?

Poker and sports betting will not feature when new Bodog.co.uk site relaunches

European online poker players looked likely to be short another internet destination this week as news surfaced that the UK Bodog brand franchise holder Bodog.co.uk will not include poker when it relaunches its revamped and re-targeted online and live dealer casino operation.

Many players had only just settled down after being transferred to the old Bodog.co.uk site from the now closed Bodog.eu venue.

The operator signalled changes ahead when it stopped accepting action from a slew of nations that include Belgium and several Middle East and Eastern European countries earlier this year.

The company also recently issued a statement advising that it intended to re-focus on the Asian ex-pat community with the new site, but that online poker would "…not be included in the initial launch of the new UK-facing website.”

Players have been informed of the changes, and invited to cash out their account balances should they feel that the website will no longer meet their gaming requirements.

The ownership of Bodog.co.uk, along with that of the Bodog Poker Network, recently changed, with the operators of the Bodog Asia brand franchise acquiring both enterprises.

Other brand franchisees include Canadian operation Bodog.ca; Bodog88.com in the Asian market; and Bovada, the risky but US-friendly poker operation in North America.
