Brazils Online Boom


The Internet is going from strength to strength in South America’s giant economy
 
With almost 193 million inhabitants and a prospective GDP rate of 6 percent for 2010, Brazil is shaping up to be one of the most exciting development areas in the world, and the Internet is a dynamic part of the economy.
 
Observers report that the consolidation of the middle class as the majority group has strengthened the e-commerce sector and at present 17.6 million people are known to purchase a wide range of items over the Internet.
 
Use of the Internet has soared in Brazil, with around 68 million users, ahead of the UK and Spain, with 51 million and 29 million Internet users, respectively, according to Forrester Research.
 
And according to e-Bit Consultants, Internet purchases for the year 2009 increased by 30 percent versus the previous year, with transactions surpassing US$ 6 billion (10.6 billion Brazilian reais).
 
Around 17.6 million people confirmed that they had made Internet purchases, which represents an impressive 26 percent of all Internet users in Brazil.
