Caesars and 888 To Launch Nevada Online Poker

Thursday May 16,2013 : CAESARS-888 PARTNERSHIP TO LAUNCH ONLINE POKER IN NEVADA SOON (Update)

World Series of Poker will make a powerful launch platform for new venture

Following the launch of Ultimate Poker earlier this month as the first legalised online poker site in Nevada, it is now likely that a similar venture belonging to Caesars Entertainment and partner 888 will be the second into the Nevada intrastate market.

The news surfaced during a briefing Wednesday on the next World Series of Poker tournament scheduled to kick off at Caesars' Rio Casino and Resort in Las Vegas on May 29.

Seth Palansky, communications frontman for WSOP, confirmed that the launch of the Caesars-888 online poker site is planned for an as yet unspecified slot in the World Series of Poker festivities, probably before the main event launches on July 6.

The launch will be dependent, too, on whether the Caesars-888 project has received the final approval of the Nevada Gaming Control Board by launch date.

Palansky says part of the launch plan is to run online satellites that will enable Nevada visitors and residents to win buy-ins to the prestigious and in many cases expensive World Series of Poker events.

Coinciding neatly with all of this is the tenth anniversary of the trend-setting WSOP main event victory in 2003 of amateur internet player Chris Moneymaker, which arguably put online poker on the mainstream map.

Moneymaker won millions after qualifying for the event in a Pokerstars online satellite, and there are plans to mark the historic event this year.
