DON’T WRITE OFF CALIFORNIA ONLINE POKER

Thursday June 28,2012 : DON'T WRITE OFF CALIFORNIA ONLINE POKER YET (Update)

Behind-the-scenes negotiations continue as politicians and action groups strive for a solution

California Senator Rod Wright may have had to pull his online poker legalization measure SB1463 from political committee stages two weeks back but the initiative is far from dead.

Trying to achieve a solution agreeable to the many tribal, commercial and political forces in play must be akin to herding cats, but the Senator and his ally, Sen. Darrell Steinberg, have not given up on the project, attending a series of meetings with interested parties in an attempt to reach a workable compromise.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the duo may be in a position to resurrect a committee hearing soon, but time is of the essence as the state legislature adjourns for the summer recess on July 6, and California's legislative session ends August 31.
