California Online Poker DEAD For 2016

Thursday September 1,2016 : CALIFORNIAN LEGALISED ONLIN POKER DEAD FOR ANOTHER YEAR

No last-minute reprieve for Assemblyman Grays doomed legalization bill.

For the ninth year running the legalization of online poker has been denied to Californian poker fans.

On Wednesday night members of the Legislature worked late in trying to pass last-minute measures before the midnight shutdown for this session, but Assemblyman Adam Grays AB2863 bill was not among those presented.

Despite a patient effort to broker a consensus among interested parties that included tribes, card rooms and online poker giant Pokerstars, Assemblyman Gray was unable to overcome the major hurdle of a "bad actor" clause that would have kept Pokerstars out of the market for at least five years, and that scuppered any chance of success.

Gray has yet to comment on whether he will make another attempt in the next legislative season.
