INTERNET GAMES RIPPED OFF BY ROMANIANS?

Casino Web Scripts could be facing some serious litigation

Ripping off the graphics, sound effects and even games of established online gambling software developers like Microgaming and RealTime Gaming is always going to be an extremely risky, not to mention fraudulent, practice, yet from time to time obscure companies pop up that appear to think they can get away with it.

Such a company was in the spotlight this week when an alert webmaster noted that the graphics and sound effects of games offered by a Romanian software provider titled Casino Web Scripts bore an uncanny resemblance to those of major online gambling software developers.

One operator using the games, VIP Golden Club.net, was identified, with attention directed to the Major Millions, Ladies Nite and Reel Thunder offerings normally associated with probably more respectable Microgaming licensees.

The revelations triggered several independent player and webmaster investigations that uncovered questionable aspects of the CWS software such as enhanced winning in free-play mode and an apparent claim that the software could be configured by less scrupulous operators to guarantee a set profit, rather than being truly random and fair with a legitimate house edge.

Sleuths marquerading as potential licensees were told that even the source code could be purchased, along with ‘special features'.

Both Microgaming and RealTime Gaming have been given a heads up on the issue, and CWS will in all liklihood have some serious explaining to do.
