Sunday November 24 ,2013 : QUEBEC POKER ACE DOES IT AGAIN

Sylvestre takes the WSOP Circuit Casino du Lac-Leamy main event for $122,435.

Quebecer Charles Sylvestre, who took an event winner's bracelet home from this year's World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, has claimed another WSOP honour, this time the WSOP Circuit main event at the Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau.

371 hopefuls paid the $1,675 buy-in to enter the week-long main event, generating a prize pool of $556,500.

By the time the action reached final table stage, Sylvestre sat across the felt from John Nelson, Dinara Khaziyeva, Sol Bergren, Mike Leah Toronto,Justin Dean, Bryan Moon, Adam Podstawka and Ioannis Pentefountas.

In the heads up American player John Nelson started the action with a 2 to 1 chip lead on Sylvestre, but the Quebecer kept his head and thanks to a major double up at level 28 surged ahead.

Nelson was unable to recover the lost ground and Sylvestre emerged the winner, taking home $122,435 and a crack at the national championships later this year.

Nelson scored a runner up prize of $75,656.

Kudos to the dealers in this event, who banded together to donate all of their tips to the One Drop charity.
