Charlie Carrel Wins Pokerstars UK and Ireland Poker Tour

Tuesday December 02,2014 : 20-YEAR-OLD INTERNET POKER PRO WINS U.K.I.P.T. FINAL

Charlie “Epiphany77” Carrel takes down the Pokerstars Sunday Rebuy for GBP108,625.

20-year-old Irish internet poker pro Charlie “Epiphany77” Carrel showed his live tournament talent over the weekend in besting a field of 211 other hopefuls to claim the GBP108,625 in the grand final of the Pokerstars UK and Ireland Poker Tour.

The final table Carrel faced included some notable names and comprised Paul Vas Nunes, 2009 Irish Open finalist Ben Vinson, WPT Nottingham finalist Tamer Kamel, last year's GUKPT Grand Finalist Will Kassouf, Martyn Fuller, twice former GUKPT champion Priyan Demel, 2013 World Series of Poker Europe winner Adrian Mateos and Walid Sawaya.

The heads up between Carrel and GUKPT Reading champion Paul Vas Nunes took over an hour to settle despite Carrel beginning with a solid chip advantage. The two reached a chop agreement at the start of heads up action that assured Carrel of GBP100,005 and Vas Nunes GBP94,775 prizes, with GBP8,620 left on the table for the winner.

That turned out to be Carrel in his first major live tournament victory, with the prize easily eclipsing the Euro 8,500 he managed to cash at this year's EPT Barcelona.

The remaining final table pay-outs were:

2nd – GBP94,775 – Paul Vas Nunes
3rd – GBP50,500 – Ben Vinson
