CHINA CRACKS DOWN ON WEBSITES OFFERING ILLEGAL SERVICES


Ministry of Public Security reports on results of campaign launched in June 2010
 
Media reports on a news briefing held this week by the Ministry of Public Security on a campaign launched in June 2010 to eliminate websites that offer illegal trade services . 
 
According to the Ministry, Chinese police have shut down as many as 2500 websites that offer illegal trade services including online gambling in the five months ending October 2010.
 
Police nationwide found and disposed of more than 1.4 million online posts or messages, cracked down on more than 4000 criminal cases, arrested in the region of 7000 suspects and destroyed more than 660 dens, reported the Ministry of Public Security.  The campaign will continue.
