Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling Attacking pennsylvania

Thursday October 22,2015 : COALITION TO STOP INTERNET GAMBLING ATTACKS PENNSYLVANIAN LAWMAKER

New video shows that anti-online gambling group is alarmed at the progress of the legalization debate in Pennsylvania.

The Sheldon Adelson-funded Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling appears to be alarmed at the positive debate developing on online gambling in Pennsylvania, and has launched a new video vilifying Pennsylvania State Representative John Payne, a driver of the legalization debate in the state.

The video shockingly accuses the respected lawmaker of supporting what it alleges are "predatory online gambling sites", thereby putting at risk children and senior citizens in Pennsylvania.

CSIG videos have developed a reputation for heavy-handed and not always accurate fear-mongering, and the latest effort is no exception; so far its appearance on Youtube has hardly attracted attention.

Respected industry journalist Steve Ruddock points out that CSIG accusations are dubious and easily debunked, and that spokesmen for the group are often greeted with scepticism and ridicule when they appear in front of state legislatures.

The latest target is chairman of the state House Gaming Oversight Committee, and has been driving legalization initiatives in the Pennsylvania Legislature. These have achieved more immediacy due to the state's serious budget deficit (see previous InfoPowa reports) with joint State House and Senate committee meetings scheduled in an attempt to progress existing legalization bills.
