Cybersecurity Bill S3414

Wednesday October 24,2012 :  CYBERSECURITY BILL – IS THIS ONLINE POKER'S BEST BET?

There's almost a sense of deja vu in Reid's promotion of Cybersecurity Bill S3414

Remember the hype over a year ago on a proposed cybersecurity bill as online poker's best chance of coat-tailing it to legalization in the US Congress? Well, it appears that it is here again.

Political pundits and reports in the legislative media were speculating this week on the energy that Nevada Senator Harry Reid is putting behind S.3414, a bipartisan bill on cybersecurity that failed last August .

And once again there are theories that the bill could be the ideal ‘must pass' legalization to which Reid and his collaborator, Sen. Jon Kyl, might attach their latest attempt to legalise online poker but ban other forms of online gaming at the federal level.

It will be a tight squeeze, but political observers have already noted that once the US elections are out of the way, the only space left in the current Congressional season will be the lame duck session just before political action draws to a close for the year.
