Delaware Online gambling revenues up 42 percent

Friday December 19,2014 : GOOD NEWS FROM DELAWARE

Online gambling revenues up 42 percent.

November stats from the Delaware Lottery bring the welcome news that online gambling revenues in November soared 42 percent compared with October, reaching $184,898.

Delaware i-gaming revenue peaked in April this year when the three online gambling sites licensed in the state reported revenues of $240,762.

Drilling down into the numbers shows that online poker was up 15 percent on October, reaching $32,814 in rake and fees. By way of comparison, that's a long way off the best month for poker in the state; that was December last year, when online poker brought in $106,922.

Officials are hoping that a future inter-state player sharing agreement with Nevada will improve matters; the governors of both states signed a sharing compact in February this year, but the regulatory implications are still being worked on by officials.

The uptick in revenue numbers has regrettably not been reflected in new player sign-ups in Delaware, which were down at just 308 players…the lowest since online gambling was legalised in the state in November 2013. The biggest month for signups was back then, with 2,654 new accounts opened.
