Detroit Tiger Dominance Renews Playoff Hopes

Tiger Dominance Renews Playoff Hopes

With only fourteen games left the Detroit Tigers are scraping wins wherever they can get them. The Oakland Athletics seem to be enabling the Tigers to get back into a much heated pennant race against the Chicago White Socks. The Tigers won yesterday in another dominating performance that saw six runs driven in and only two runs against them. The Tigers in the last two games have outscored the bewildered Athletics 18-4 in a show of offensive power that has been seemingly lacking since the all-star break. Betting websites everywhere are having a hard time predicting the split with the amount of runs the Tigers have been doling out against the Athletics.

The Athletics who were annihilated on Tuesday 12-2 had no answers anywhere against a dominating Tigers offence and pitching rotation. Miguel Cabrera homered once for his forty-first on the year and Justin Verlander picked up his fifteenth win of the season. Verlander pitched for six innings before retiring striking out five and only allowing five hits and three walks.

Sceptics of the Tigers playoff hopes will have to continue to wait to call the season a bust as the White Socks fell to the Kansas City Royals last night 3-0. The loss set the White Socks back but propelled the Tigers back behind two games. The AL Central is a sure fire bet to go down to the wire.

The Oakland Athletics who have been riding a wave of success this season but were unable to respond to the Tigers who once again displayed some high powered offence. Worse for the Athletics is that Brett Anderson (4-2) went down with what is being deemed a right oblique injury. The Athletics are holding onto one of the remaining wild card spots are beginning a slump that may cost them a chance at the post season. Losers of their last three the Athletics are in dire need of some late season magic that will reverse their fortunes.

The Tigers who are in possession of a potential MVP and Cy Young winner seem to be turning the tables around and are closing in on the White Socks for a place in the playoffs. If the Tigers continue their offensive supremacy and blurring pitching the Tigers might be able to pull off a comeback which a lot of people didn’t think they could overcome. As the pennant race heats up during the latter part of the season both the White Socks and Tigers haven’t been able to distance themselves as deserving of the American League Central leaders. Both teams have struggled and are only two games over .500 in their last ten.

Tonight’s game will be an online betting sites dream as people looking to bet on the Tigers will be taking a big gamble on a team that has dominated the Athletics this series. On the flip side however the Oakland Athletics have performed well beyond expectations this year and are early favorites to win the World Series. Betting against the Athletics would be hard to ignore but after last night’s scorching loss the Tigers may have just found their footing again.
