Internet gambling and legal sportsbetting expected to be key topics

Internet gambling and sports betting will again be a hot topic at a US conference this week when delegates gather for the East Coast Gaming Congress on Wednesday and Thursday in Atlantic City.

Billed as one of the largest annual US industry conferences, the event is expected to host in excess of 600 people that include casino executives and Government officials.

Law firm Cooper Levenson, the primary organiser of the conference, expects internet gambling and sportsbetting to be high on the agenda, reports Atlantic City Press, with Lloyd D. Levenson commenting: “We’ve never been this close to Internet gaming. We’ve talked about it for 10 years. And we’re closer than ever to sports betting.

“It certainly takes New Jersey outside traditional gaming and puts us at the forefront of the initiatives that can change the dynamics of our jurisdiction.  The Internet is another source of tremendous potential revenue.”

Other speakers on the agenda include Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno, vociferous internet gambling proponent State Senator Raymond Lesniak, Scott Butera of Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprise, Inc. Kevin DeSanctis – Revel Entertainment, Mitchell Etess – Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority and Gary Loveman – Caesars Entertainment, amongst others.
