A profitable final table for the survivors

Eight final tablers, each guaranteed a payday of at least Euro 45 000 and a crack at the Euro 525 000 completed the Euro 25 000 buy-in EPT Madrid Hi Roller competition Saturday, with Internet and live tournament ace Bertrand ‘ElkY Grospellier taking the honours.

The final table was led by Galen Hall, chased by Juha Helppi and the rest of the field some way behind when the action began, with Vanessa Rousso (USA), Alex Repik (Russia), Peter Jetten (Canada), David Sands (USA) Bertrand Grospellier (France) and Benny Spindler (Germany) all keen to challenge the leaders.

The survivors were all that remained of an entry field of 58 that included some of the top players on the Internet and the international live poker circuit, who generated a Euro 1 435 500 prize pool.

In the end it was Grospellier and Spindler who faced off in the heads up, with Grospellier taking the honours and the Euro 525 000 main prize, leaving his German opponent with the consolation of a second placing prize of Euro 316 000.

Grospellier added the victory to an impressive resume that includes World Poker Tour, European Poker Tour and Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure High Roller triumphs during his career.
