Entertainment Gaming Asia eyeing the online social gaming sector

Entertainment Gaming Asia has developed a mobile app for the pan-Asian market.
 
Entertainment Gaming Asia, a supplier of hardware to land casino operators in Cambodia and the Philippines, is eyeing the online social gaming sector as a possible solution to declining revenue, according to reports in the Asian media referencing a stock exchange filing by the company.
 
Chief executive and chairman of the company, Clarence Chung has revealed that the company is engaged in developing a social gaming platform, and plans are in place to begin testing in Q3-2016.
 
“We have developed this free-to-play, mobile, social games app for the pan-Asian market and intend to monetise it through the in-game-sale of virtual coins that allow players to extend play time or accelerate their progress,” he said.
 
EGA has seen its second quarter revenues decline by 53.7 percent year-on-year to $2.3 million, creating a reduced net loss of $799,000.
