Multi-channel betting partnership will promote Investec Derby Festival

An official betting partnership deal for the Investec Derby Festival was struck between Epsom Downs Racecourse and bookmaker William Hill, this week.

The five-year agreement provides a multi-channel betting platform that includes high-street betting shop estates, online at williamhill.com, via a dedicated new micro-site theroadtothederby.co.uk and mobile via Epsom Downs new iPhone App with a view to building betting revenues and interest from the betting community in the lead-up to the event.

The introduction of the micro-site theroadtothederby.co.uk will provide punters with all the information they require on the festival and features news, footage and insight into the Derby and other related races.

While the exclusive "in-App betting" with William Hill via Epsom Downs' recently launched App for iPhone will allow punters to place bets and also provide event information, racecards, odds and race results.

Rupert Trevelyan, Managing Director of Epsom Downs Racecourse, said: “We are delighted to partner with William Hill to introduce arguably the most innovative betting platform seen in British racing. With the world’s greatest flat race, the Investec Derby, and exciting races including the Investec Oaks, Coronation Cup and Dash, the Investec Derby Festival provides plenty of opportunities for this partnership to build on.  We believe they are the right partner to help promote the Investec Derby Festival, including the lead-up to its feature races and trials in years to come.”

Ralph Topping, Chief Executive of William Hill, commented:  “We have been impressed with Epsom’s intent to work together in partnership to grow betting revenues around the Investec Derby Festival.  We are confident that over time this commercial arrangement will see us drive turnover upwards, to provide even greater returns for Racing and punters.’’
