Equity Poker network Reporting DDOS Attacks

Wednesday December 17,2014 : D.D.O.S. ATTACKS CONTINUE

Now Equity Poker network reports sporadic assaults over the last six weeks.

The Equity Poker network has joined the Merge and Winning Poker networks in reporting recent Distributed Denial of Service attacks, revealing that it has endured short but disruptive assaults over the past six weeks.

A statement from the network Tuesday revealed that: "DDOS attacks at EPN have occurred intermittently across the past six weeks, causing some short-term disruptions to Network connectivity and frustrating poker room outages."

The network hastens to add that in most cases Equity developers managed to fight the attacks off and mitigate the consequences, and that player personal details and account balances were not at risk.

"We are working behind-the-scenes to strengthen the network mechanisms and structures necessary to deal with such assaults on our operations and we hope to reach a solution shortly that will fix the outages our network's operators and their players have had to endure during recent times," the network statement advised.

Equity Poker techies are of the view that their network has not been particularly singled out for attack, but that the DDoS activity is associated with a "…more calculated wider assault on online poker businesses."

Our readers will recall that earlier this week Americas Cardroom had to cancel a million dollar online poker tournament due to DDoS activity, postponing the event until next year whilst it beefs up security measures, whilst in Sweden attacks on a major and as yet unidentified online gambling site had a knock on effect that disabled the national broadband service for a short time
