Wsop Event 49 End Day 2


Thursday June 30, 2011 : Event 49: $2,500 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball also completed its second day with Jason Mercier in the chip lead and clearly looking for a second bracelet in this 42nd WSOP.
 
He has already enjoyed cashes this year in the $1,500 2-7 Draw Lowball (No-Limit) where he finished seventh; the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship and the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better Championship, along with a third career bracelet win in the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha / Six Handed.
 
He leads a field of 13, all that remains of a starting list of 310 after two long days of expert poker.
 
105 players returned to the tables Wednesday mid-afternoon Vegas time to compete for the $189,919 first place money and the bracelet.  There are still some formidable competitors in the running, such as Eli Elezra, WPT Championship Winner Scott Seiver), Shawn Buchanan, 2011 PCA Main Event Champ Galen Hall, 2009 $50,000 World Championship H.O.R.S.E. Champion David Bach, Jon Turner and Justin Bonomo.
 
The second day casualties list reads like a compendium of red hot players and includes Mike Matusow, Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, Tom Dwan, Daniel Negreanu, Pat Pezzin, Gavin Smith, and Robert Williamson III.
 
Thursday resumption is sure to herald some exciting and entertaining poker.
