Everleaf Company Director Charged with Misappropriation of Players Funds

Almost a year to the month that Malta's Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) suspended Everleaf Poker Network’s licence, the regulator has informed the arrest and appearance before Magistrate Doreen Clarke of one of the directors and the Key Official of remote gaming firm Everleaf.

Michael Zwi Oros was charged for misappropriation of players' funds and failure to pay outstanding gaming taxes and licence fees, while an ongoing criminal investigation continues regarding Jean Pavili, another director of Everleaf.

The arrest took place after what was described as "intensive investigations" by the Malta Police Economic Crimes Unit and the LGA.

Oros was granted bail and ordered to pay a Euro 10 000 deposit.  Further bail conditions state he may not leave Malta and must appear at the St. Julian's Police Station each day.

Joseph Cuschieri, Executive Chairman of the LGA said the authority is committed to bringing to justice the other director who was ultimately responsible for the operations of Everleaf.

"Our key objective is to recover the funds owed to the players. We are committed to ensure that player funds are protected at all times and to this effect, the LGA will be taking concrete measures to strengthen its player protection mechanisms well beyond the benchmarks in Europe and other jurisdictions," Cuschieri said in a media statement.
