FanDuel and DraftKings 2014 Earnings Results

Business is burgeoning at FanDuel and DraftKings.
 
Fuelling optimism on the business potential around the daily fantasy sports sector, two of the leading operators in the field have reported impressive 2014 results this week.
 
Market leader FanDuel.com posted revenues of just over $37 million for Q4-2014 – a significant improvement over the $7.4 million the company reported for the same period in 2013. And the enterprise's active player base grew to over a million in the quarter, an extraordinary increase over the 190,000 registered in the fourth quarter of 2013.
 
FanDuel's closest rival, DraftKings, has also enjoyed a stellar Q4-2014, reporting revenues of more than $17 million compared to Q4-2013's $2.5 million, and FY revenue of $30 million (FY-2013: $4 million).
 
Both companies devote substantial budget to marketing as they strive to grow in what appears to be a booming American sector, with interest spreading fast to Europe.
