Sportech considering the sale of Football Pools UK

Liverpool-based UK Football Pools business saw a 5 percent drop in earnings recently.
 
Sportech plc may be considering the sale of its ailing Football Pools UK subsidiary, which saw earnings dip 5 percent to GBP 24 million recently.
 
The Times newspaper broke the news, revealing that Sportech wants to focus on its growing US racing business after yet another underperformance from the Liverpool pools subsidiary, where revenues and player interest have both been waning for several years.
 
Player numbers have declined from a peak of 10 million in 2008 to around 300,000 at present.
 
Sportech has not officially commented on the report.
