The GBI Racing TV channel, which broadcasts British and Irish racing to betting outlets around the world, will be streamed online to fixed-odds markets in Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia and Moldova.

Marathon, an independent sportsbook operator established in 1997 which has licences registered in the Netherlands Antilles and the UK, has contracted Independent Content Services (ICS) in Leeds (UK) to provide Russian commentaries and voiceovers for all races shown on GBI Racing.

Richard Brooke, chairman of GBI Racing, said: "The reach of GBI Racing is continually growing and this partnership with Marathon will allow British and Irish racing to enter a previously untapped market.

“The tone of the voiceovers and commentaries will be very much to demystify and educate the newcomer to the sport, and we believe this will generate interest and excitement around British and Irish racing."

Ian Holding, director of ICS said: “This was an ideal project for us. It’s been great to work with GBI and Marathon as they take horseracing into another new territory, and our in-house Russian team have become passionate ambassadors for the sport."
