SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN TO REPEAL LIBERAL GAMBLING LAW?

Friday July 27,2012 : SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN TO REPEAL LIBERAL GAMBLING LAW?

Unclear what time frame involved or what legal consequences may be

Reports from Germany indicate that the new Schleswig-Holstein Government is intent on repealing its more liberal gambling law in preparation of rejoining the 16 State German Treaty on Gambling.

The change of approach to online gambling legalization has been occasioned by a change of Government in Germany's northern-most State.

Reports quote Schleswig-Holstein prime minister Torsten Albig as saying it was the intention to take the State back into the Treaty and that that would entail the repeal of the formerly-liberal legalization, but it is not clear how long this process would take or what the consequences in terms of litigation by companies already licenced by the State might be.

The issue is said to be scheduled for discussion by Parliament on August 1, 2012.
