RUSSIAN POKER ACE WINS INAUGURAL WPT VIENNA

Posted 3/30/11 : Euro 447,850 payday is Gromov's best yet

The inaugural World Poker Tour Vienna wound up this week with an exciting five-hand heads up that saw Moscow poker ace Dmitry Gromov claim his biggest win yet, taking home the main prize of Euro 447 850.

Gromov pretty much dominated the competition, holding the chiplead for most of the action before facing off against a final table comprising Maxim Kolosov, Simon Ravnsbaek, Mario Adinolfi, Valentin Stroiescu, Maximilian Noll, Alessio Isaia and Mark Jenisch.

His hold over the game was illustrated by the fact that he personally took out over half the final table before ending in a heads up against fellow Russian Maxim Kolosov, whom he vanquished in only five hands.

Kolosov's consolation was a second placing purse of $241 180.
