Great Poker Week For Gus Hansen

Tuesday August 19,2014 : AT LAST – A GOOD WEEK FOR GUS HANSEN

The Great Dane tops poker high stakes winner's list…but he's still down over $15 million overall.

Danish high stakes player Gus Hansen's patience and resilience through difficult weeks were rewarded last week when he finally enjoyed a good run on the Full Tilt nosebleed tables to emerge top weekly winner with a profit of $600,000.

Although impressive, the amount still pales beside Hansen's overall losses over the past few years, said to be in excess of $15 million.

The High Stakes Data Base reports that Hansen's good run was well earned in mainly mixed game clashes with respected opponents like Chun Lei "samrostan" Zhou, Alexandre Luneau, Alexander Kostritsyn and Daniel Cates.

The HSDB lists the week's top winners as:

Gus Hansen, up $611,960
Mikael ‘punting-peddler' Thuritz, up $542,206
Denoking, up $339,132
SanIker up $209,454
Viktor ‘Isildur1' Blom up $205,772.

Biggest losers were:

Chun ‘samrostan' Lei Zhou, who was down $568,803
Cort ‘thecortster' Kibler-Melby, down $320,743
Phil ‘OMGClayAiken' Galfond, down $216,291
RMFG, down $199,048
Isaac ‘luvtheWNBA' Haxton, down $173,736

Biggest pot of the week – a $334,000 monster – went to Hansen after a tussle with Alexander Kostritsyn and Daniel Cates.

Player Chun ‘samrostan' Lei Zhou is currently attracting attention for all the wrong reasons as he battles through a bad patch, with his losses mounting significantly to around $6 million this year alone, amid reports that his losses in online high stakes games since 2013 now top $9.5 million, and over the past three years could be as high as $14 million.
